We designed Murmur around a fundamental reality: Protected Health Information (PHI) is the most sensitive data in the world. Therefore, our privacy policy is built on an absolute zero-knowledge architecture.
Murmur operates locally on your hardware. When you dictate, your audio is captured by your microphone, instantly processed into text by the Whisper AI model running locally on your Apple Silicon (or compatible Windows) processor, and injected into your target application format.
If you explicitly upgrade to a Pro tier and enable advanced cloud-powered note structuring (e.g., sending raw text to GPT-4 for SOAP note formatting), that specific text data is securely transmitted via TLS encryption to our BAA-covered API endpoints. It is immediately structured and returned without being stored or used for any model training. The core local dictation feature never uses this pipeline.
